FREE Planet Rump Shirts @ next BOOTY CRISIS!!! 12/18
Thanks to Jillian Adel and her magical screenprinting supplies, we turned the planet rump pad into a tee factory. Fluorescent and glow-in-the-dark ink aplenty, we pulled a stack of shirts to be tossed to the party people at our next BOOTY CRISIS: 12/18/09 at Public ASSembly. Other articles came off friends' backs and rumps and got under the screen as well.
Check that gradient yo!!!

BOOTY CRISIS in full effect
The 4th monthly BOOTY CRISIS dance party was off the chains last night, thanks to Chico Mann, Tayisha Busay, Hiro tha Jap and DJ A-ko. Rumps were in motion and would not be stopped til the wee hours of the morning. The beats were funky, eclectic, party-starting and booty-booming. Today has been a slow recovery and a sweet reflection, still feeling the love reverberations.
Can't wait for next month!

Bad Brilliance's potentially hostile takeover turned into a coup without bloodshed (the blurry photos tell all) -thanks Tayisha Busay Dancers!
Friday- in the back room of an Italian restaurant in Flatiron Will Sheridan stole our hearts and repaid us in sweat (guest star- Nasty Ness!)

Tales from the Rump Side
Back to the future... has it been 3 months or only a wrinkle in time? Things have been jumping off with some very exciting gigs being planned- We will be at Southpaw July 23 with Chico Mann and The Superpowers — this will be really dope as you know that Marcos (Chico Mann) has a new album out and it is off the chain. The Superpowers are also still hot from the studio themselves with the recent completion of their dope new album "Trance for Nation". It should be an amazing exciting night where we get to play with 2 amazing afro-funk-beat groups. Check out the flier by Miss Strawberry:
We also have a show coming up August 7 with the 420 Funk Mob at Don Pedro's... it sounds unbelievable but we'll believe it and see what happens. And there's another show coming up on August 15 when we start a new Planet Rump monthly party at Public Assembly in Williamsburg... We will be there every 3rd Saturday from then on serving up electrocrack on the turntables and bringing in some special guest acts to multiply the vibes. It's the nu nu fantastic love dance party from your friends at Planet Rump.
New songs are coming out soon and aren't recorded yet- come hear them live at our show because it's like someone turned on the crazy robo funk faucet and left it on and we want you to hear it!!
Please stay in touch and peep our myspace for updates on show dates, they will always be posted there. Bless, dj tantric

Nasty Ness does NYC
In other news- I came back from my trip to Buffalo to witness a video the girls made in our place and everyone is all messed up and wearing leather pants freestyling over the casio beats in the living room.
Had a quick meet-up with our friend Devon who is this visionary film guy. We are planning out our first music video and all I gotta say is.... cockpits, model space crafts, green-screens, and Bushwick. Bring it to a new dimension!
We also had a really dodgy gig at a dodgy bar in Williamsburg this past Sunday.... I think if our opening act didn't play guitar, he definitely would have been arrested by now for serial killer related crimes. Given that, it was a tough act to follow. We spent our time slot doing interpretive dance to Funkadelic's 'Maggot Brain' then got the hell out of there! What a freakin' trip. Next time I promise more of us will take off more of our clothes.
With this I leave you...

Funky Weekend Part 1!
Wowza! The past weekend got so funky that we should probably start spreading the funky news with a funky blog.
So I came back from a trip in Portland Oregon late last Friday Night. I got back home to Ms. Strawberry who was on the phone with Nasty Ness saying that she got us into some Philly-Red Bull Music Academy Event the next afternoon via 215 Magazine- We thought about it for a minute, and jumped on it! Within 8 hours I was movin from the Brooklyn pad to Philly via Chinatown in the sketchiest bus ever.
The Academy was cool-we got to hear from ?uestlove of the Roots who was giving a relaxed interview with the crowd of 40 or so. He was cool to hear from and we appreciated his insights ,though it was clear that his current gig schedule is spreading him thin- more props to him for spreadin the love ! The session was held in Larry Gold's studio by Philly's Electric Factory. I don't know much about Larry Gold, but it looks like he's done some work producing a lot of RnB and hits.
It was really cool meeting this producer named 'Chaos'/ "Shish boom bah"- he was working his stuff in the studio and took the time to listen to some of our tracks. It was cool- he was in this NASA-style-orbiting-production-space-console -room with a zillion knobs in it and we had the chance to hear our one-track tape recorded in a dark basement and it sounded good! Everyone was into it and we are thinkin of doin some funky work together with Chaos. That was a huge plus and helped us feel evermore faithful to the funk!
Then we bounced outta the studio to go rock the party in Brooklyn! Such a funky-as-hell-party! We rolled up around 10pm and started rocking some crazy ill funky lovin' beats! It was Coverboy playin stone cold mackin electro love jams for a couple hours, then I rocked the beats w/ Strawberry & Ness for a hot minute. This was our first party that we listed in Time Out mag and it brought in some funky peeps, including the yellow telletubby! Marcos from Chico Mann/Antibalas came to show some love- we were so happy cuz this guy is funky to the 9's!
Things got crazy for a hot couple hours and then I spent the morning waking up in my crib with all these people on the couch so I cracked some funky beers into a cow's horn and we drank till the 3pm brunch- which those of you living in the Brooklyn area may be aware of already ;)
Anyways- this blog may the beginning of something serious.... seriously funky that is!
You are the first to read it so please don't take it for granted- time capsules don't live in cyberspace and you are the only messenger.
